Ashburn Boxing is dedicated to development and training in the eastern art of boxing;
commonly called Karate. While there are hundreds of fighting styles world wide many of
which have representation in the Northern VA, DC, and Maryland areas; Ashburn Boxing
focuses on a line of Chinese Karate called Jook Lum Tong Leong.
Ashburn Boxing: Chinese Hard Style Karate
"...Begin with Courtesy, Engage Purely, End with Courtesy."
Jook Lum Tong Leong as currently practiced is a martial art heavily influenced by the Chinese Master Wong-Leong who
originated the basic principles of the system during the 17th century in China. Although many aspects of the system have been
refined and materially influenced by the various masters who have shepherded its practice; the core training principles survive
today. In it's current form the system is beautiful and powerful, deriving its core influences from the Praying Mantis (low stance -
hard and fast strikes) Monkey and Dragon (elusive low sweeps, enveloping attacks, circular motion).
Jook Lum Tong Leong is a Chinese Karate Hard Style system. Its current authoritative influence is Grand Master Manuel
Agrella; the systems unequivocal leader. As practiced within the context of Ashburn Boxing, the Jook Lum Tong Leong classes
are conducted in a traditional eastern style format. The classes are no less than 2 hours per session, to be engaged at least
twice per week preferably more. At Ashburn Boxing, the primary motivation of the principle instructors is to pass on and inspire
students to absorb and succeed in the practice of this demanding discipline. While building a school and filling the floors with
large number of students, is always an interesting goal, the obligation carried by the principle instructors is to maintain the
integrity of the material.

are interested in considering adding this training regimen to your schedule. We'd be more than happy to offer references from
both current and former students while you are evaluating your training options.

Mike Cocozza: Master Hsu-Ta
Tong Leong is based on two principles: "brotherhood and discipline". These
principles are clearly reflected in all aspects of protocol. Protocol is a system of
behavior based upon rank and the Tong Leong Principles of brotherhood and
discipline. The ranking system begins with the Master, who is followed by his
senior black belts, brown belts, purple belts, etc. all the way to the beginner
students.
